Anguilla
A British dependency in the Caribbean Sea, Anguilla, a small island with a population of less than 15,000, is situated just east of Puerto Rico. Although the East Caribbean dollar is the official currency with a fixed exchange rate of US$1=EC$2.70, the U.S. dollar is widely accepted. English is the main and official language. Anguilla, like many other territory states, acquires most of its income from tourism and fishing, with the increasing prevalence of offshore incorporation and investment firms in recent years. Tourism is expected to increase as is the number of offshore companies within Anguilla as the Government continues to liberalize laws and regulations.
