Marshall Islands
The Republic of the Marshall Islands is a small island nation in the western South Pacific Ocean located east of Micronesia and south of the U.S. territory of Wake Island, to which the islands are claimed. In 1986 the United States gave the Marshall Islands sovereignty and in 1991 they became a member of the United Nations. The Republic of the Marshall Islands has a stable political system, economy, and communications system. In addition to rapid growth in the shipping industry, the Marshall Islands have also experienced proliferation in the professional and technology sectors.
